Scope Of Work
The Central Logistics Park 100 project illustrates the role of respectful reuse in developing much-needed logistics space in a high-demand market.
Duke Realty purchased a 131-acre site in Lehigh Valley for new development. We knew the history of the site and wanted to respect the existing structures that needed to be removed before development could begin.
Rather than send the remains of the original farmhouse and a historic barn to the landfill, we worked with individuals and businesses in the community to reclaim reusable materials. We dismantled the wood barn, which dated back to the 1850s, and a local woodworking company took the beams and siding for future use.
A bridge that spanned a small creek was given to nearby Amish farmers for use on their property. We also salvaged door hardware, slate roof shingles, and other items for use as craft materials.
A 615,000-square-foot warehouse is now under construction on the site for Max Finkelstein, a tire distributor with operations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
