Chaz Friendly's Bio
As CFO, Chaz is responsible for the financial oversight, reporting and budgeting of the Company.
Chaz received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Accountancy from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and Construction Financial Management Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.
Prior to joining CF Evans, Chaz was a Senior Audit Manager with a regional public accounting firm where he provided a variety of assurance services to construction clients throughout the Southeast.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends either on the back porch, golf course, or by the pool. He resides in Lexington, South Carolina with his wife, Jenna.
David Summers's Bio
In each role he has held, David has worked to build people and teams for the betterment of the company.
David began his career at CF Evans as an Assistant Superintendent in 2002. Sixteen years later, after proving himself as a Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, General Project Manager, Division Manager, and Director of Construction, he was named the company’s President.
With a passion for cultivating relationships with our many partners and a plethora of industry experience, David is committed to client service and results, embodying the core values that have defined this Company for more than seventy years. David is a graduate of Clemson University, where he majored in Construction Science and Management and minored in Business.
To David, CF Evans is more than just a construction company, but his extended family. His goal is to ensure that all employees experience the family culture that makes us special, and that our culture remains strong as the company continues to grow. David, his wife Karen, and their 3 children live in Cameron, SC, on a small family farm where he grew up.
John Barr's Bio
As Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, John Barr focuses on our company’s growth through strategic initiatives to help us achieve the highest level of organizational excellence.
John is responsible for our company’s robust training program, and he specifically leads Information Technology, Construction Technology, Safety, and Contract Administration. Regardless of the role he has filled in his 20+ year tenure at CF Evans, his approach has always been to be a servant – to come in alongside others, meet them where they are, and work with them to grow and go forward.
When not a work, John enjoys the blessings of being with his wife Sabrina and their family and responding to opportunities of service and mission as opportunities present themselves.
Johnny Evans's Bio
Since joining CF Evans in 1975, Johnny Evans has succeeded in growing and developing a professional firm with a winning track record. His leadership has made CF Evans the top choice of many clients throughout the Southeast. He has assembled an outstanding team of men and women who embrace the values of hard work, thorough grounding in construction principles, openness to innovative approaches, excellent communication skills, and unparalleled integrity.
Johnny, whose father Clarence F. Evans founded the firm in 1948, grew up in the construction industry. He possesses nearly 40 years of hands-on experience and is highly skilled in the means and methods of construction. Johnny is a graduate of Clemson University.
Estimating, Purchasing & Preconstruction
Rusty Porter's Bio
With over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, Rusty is responsible for our preconstruction, estimating, and business development services.
His experience spans all aspects of a wide variety of projects including commercial projects, design/build manufacturing and industrial facilities, minor league baseball stadiums, CCRC communities, and of course, thousands of multi-family units. Rusty’s knack for building relationships and providing servant leadership, in addition to his extensive technical proficiency for techniques and systems make him a highly valuable asset to the CF Evans team. He was born and raised in Orangeburg County and still makes his home there to this day.
Rusty and his wife of 35 years, Kim, have two sons, a daughter, and proudly welcomed a daughter-in-law into their family 2 years ago. In addition to spending time with his family, Rusty is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys being surrounded by nature whether in the seat of a tractor, sitting in a duck blind or deer stand, or fishing the black water of the Edisto River. He also enjoys tinkering with all sorts of things in his shop, teaching Sunday School at his church, and singing in the choir.

Janet Peek's Bio
As Construction Coordinator, Janet joined CF Evans in 2008 as part of our Construction Services team.
Janet provides leadership for the construction administration team to manage contracts, contract documents and compliance matters for all multifamily projects. Janet has worked to improve the processes and procedures of CF Evans by working closely with our Director of Construction, Senior Project Managers and the Project Management team. She enjoys the challenges of her role and works to provide solutions to our teams.
Janet lives in Bamberg, SC and has two children and three grandsons. When she is unplugged from her work, she enjoys doing mission projects, traveling with her family, and cooking.
Ryan Gibson's Bio
As Director of Construction, Ryan is responsible for overseeing and directing all activities and personnel related to the construction operations of the company.
Ryan is responsible for delivering a positive experience for our clients and one that is consistent each time they choose CF Evans as a partner to build their projects. Ryan is driven by our core values and his passion for efficiency. His push for operational excellence in all areas of our business delivers positive results for our employees, our clients, and our company. Other critical activities include the recruitment and training of the construction team, as well as providing career leadership for the construction personnel. Ryan also devotes time to the Preconstruction team during each phase of project development.
Ryan is a graduate of Missouri State University, where he majored in Construction Management and minored in General Business. He and his wife, Danielle, along with their two children, live in Mt. Pleasant, SC. They enjoy spending time at the beach, traveling abroad, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.
Finance & Accounting
Cindy Shuler's Bio
As Assistant Controller, Cindy has 23+ years of experience in construction accounting and payroll management.
She is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a BS in Accounting. Cindy is a member of the American Payroll Institute of Certified Payroll Professionals and the South Carolina Chapter of the American Payroll Association. She is the lead in generating and revising CF Evans accounting department’s standard operating procedures. Cindy manages payroll, accounts receivable, cash management, job cost, general ledger, and provides leadership to the accounts payable team. She strives to make processes more efficient.
Cindy and her husband, Randy of 20 years, live in Bowman, SC and have two children and one granddaughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, gardening, and relaxing at the beach.

Hank Rhame's Bio
As the Director of Safety, Hank is responsible for the implementation of all project safety related processes, polices, and training in order to eliminate losses due to accidents and injuries.
Hank places a major emphasis on employee and subcontractor pre-task planning, training, and compliance with OSHA standards. Through frequent site inspections, he insures conformance to site specific plans and immediate corrective action where hazards are present or may appear. Hank is an OSHA authorized Outreach Trainer for Construction Safety 10 and 30 Hour Courses.
Hank is a graduate of The Citadel and a former US Army officer. He and his wife, Donna, live on a farm in Cameron, SC. They have two daughters and a son. He enjoys cycling, hunting, working on home projects, beekeeping, and restoring vintage bicycles.
Joel Heuring's Bio
As Head of Production & Quality Control, Joel is responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality control and assurances, and that our construction processes run reliably and efficiently.
Joel has a tremendous passion for continuous improvement and is always evaluating better and more efficient ways of performing the critical operations of our business. His attention to detail is second to none and his to do lists are something to behold. Joel understands the importance of teamwork and everyone feeling part of the family. He works very hard to make sure the project teams are supported and have the right mix that makes it fun for everyone to come to work each day.
Prior to this role, Joel worked as a Senior Project Manager overseeing projects in Charleston and Raleigh. He is a graduate of Westminster College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Joel and his wife Emily live in Mount Pleasant, SC and have daughter and son. When he is not working, you can probably find him at the gym, doing yard work, or chasing around his crazy children.
John Slavich's Bio
John is responsible for creating and developing the amazing team of people we get to work with every day.
He has more twenty years of progressive HR experience in both large, publicly held, and small, privately held companies and his passion for team-based culture fits right in at CF Evans. His ultimate passion is maintaining and even improving the family culture that has been established here and to ensure that every employee that wants to develop and grow into a new role gets that opportunity. His goal is to ensure that every employee knows there will always be someone who cares about them, who will listen to or help them whenever they need it.
John and his wife Tammy live in Columbia (Irmo) and have three kids, Cody, Megan and Dylan, and grandson Jace. John is a psychotic WVU fan and loves watching sports and rooting for his Mountaineers. John is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Journalism (Public Relations), and his Master of Science in Industrial & Labor Relations.
