Scope Of Work
The new two-story Center for Business and Healthcare is located on a 15-acre site on the Center Valley Campus. The new facility provides a dedicated, state-of-the-art facility for the nursing, physician assistant and business programs. The business program has a specialized business classroom that can simulate a mock trading floor with a digital ticker tape along with six other business classrooms. The nursing/physician assistant program has a cutting-edge patient simulation lab, five human simulator labs with adult, adolescent and pediatric simulators (to replicate physicians' offices and examination rooms) and a gross anatomy lab. The building also includes faculty offices, two lounges, a food court, conference rooms, administrative offices for the business department, a US-India collaboration center and a 200-seat lecture hall, with a sky-fold dividing wall will create two separate spaces for smaller program sessions.
The Gambet Center is a showcase of green architecture featuring environmentally advanced design consistent with LEED standards of the USGBC and will be the first LEED project for DeSales University. Currently seeking Silver certification, the project features light harvesting by using automatic blinds, screens, glass and troughs to capture and reflect light depending upon the time of year; reduction of the heat island effect through use of roofing materials; water-saving plumbing fixtures; and use of native plants to eliminate irrigation. Building materials were recycled or locally obtained and 98% of construction debris was recycled.
