Scope Of Work
Milestone undertook the historic restoration and renovation of the North Church in Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The work entailed the total restoration of the church steeple, the restoration of the exterior masonry brick sandstone and wood trim, protective storm windows for stained glass, handicapped accessibility to the building, and bathroom construction in both the Narthex and the basement area.
The contract also included significant structural improvements to both the basement and the roof’s structure. The restoration of the steeple, which climbs 175 feet above the street level, was a major undertaking in the busy market square. The project was awarded the 2007 Historic Preservation Award from the NH Preservation Alliance.
