Scope Of Work

The 560,000 square foot terminal building is a long, narrow structure organized as a gently sweeping curve. The 20 passenger gates and 1 international gate (which can be expanded to 38 gates) are along the outer edge of the curve. Arriving and departing passengers enter the terminal from a split-level road; arrivals on the top of the concourse level and departures on the lower or baggage-claim level. The terminal's atrium, which is essentially a wall of glass with shading devices and frosted glass to mitigate the effects of the southern exposure, opens from the baggage claim level to the concourse level. The building's exterior, some interior walls and floors with high traffic areas are clad in Texas pearl granite. Inside walls are wood with fabric panels and remaining floors are terrazzo. This project is designed as a “50-year building” for all life-cycle activities. The project has energy conservation techniques incorporated into the building consisting of natural lighting, thermal-ice storage for heating and cooling among other techniques.
