Scope Of Work
34 units plus clubhouse
Entire first floor of 17 buildings flooded after Hurricane Irma. Some units we tore out the cabinets and countertops and others we didn't. Some units we had to reuse old countertops but not others. Being condos, each unit is individually priced and designed. Insurance companies paying was a large factor of what the GC could do, which was passed down to us.
Most of the kitchen were not even 10'x10' and ceiling heights were only 7' tall. 84" tall pantry cabinets had to be taken apart and reassembled to even get them to stand up to install. Many homeowners had no money to store their furniture and belongings so they were piled in the middle of our work spaces; to get around, we had to lift cabinets over our heads and often put our saws and other equipment outside and work around the rain. The budget was low due to what the insurance company was paying out and we felt we couldn't charge more than these homeless people could afford. We did feel proud of helping out a lot of displaced people.
Some homeowners wanted all these upgrades to what they had before but the budget was low end. We obliged as best we could. Most people had been out of their home for several months and were appreciative for what we did for them.
