Interior Renovations
The renovation to Command and Control Center was a threephase three-year $19.1 million project encompassing the entire 190,000 sf headquarters for Special Operations at MacDill Air Force Base. The utmost consideration in planning was necessary for this project due to the nature of the business conducted at this high security facility. The project began just prior to the 9/11 attack and ran throughout the planning and implementation of the Afghan and Iraqi initiatives. The latest in communications and data technologies, security systems and facility services had to be implemented without disruption of service to the nearly two thousand employees. Along with the installation of high end finishes such as mahogany display cases, paneling and trim, eight banks of restroom facilities and the cafeteria & food services areas were renovated. A fully automated heating and ventilation system was installed with extensive electrical upgrades. The other finishes included carpet tiles, wall covering, and a speckled wall finish for corridors.
