Scope Of Work
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church was established 1889 with cornerstone laid for its current sanctuary October 1913. Church teamed with Mashburn architect to restore historic church back to its original beauty. Over years, many elements that established character space were covered or concealed, such as heart pine floors; stained glass window door trim; plaster chancel walls. worked with restoration subcontractors to revive space enhance historic features church.
wood stained glass windows doors was restored to original oak finish. Restoring wood created such a noticeable difference that church elected to have all painted baseboards replaced with stained hardwood as well. St. Paul’s signature red doors were refinished with fully refurbished hardware. old wall covering in Chancel was replaced with Venetian Plaster. Outdated carpeting was removed to expose heart pine flooring which was then refinished. The original hardwood pews were fully disassembled, restored refinished, pew cushions were added. restored incorporated new code improvements including brass hardwood hand rails both balcony chancel. Other renovations 7,000 square foot included updating all ornamental plaster trimwork beams, adding carpet in aisles, reupholstering kneelers updating air distribution.
This was honored with Historic Preservation for Excellence Preservation/Restoration by Historic Columbia Foundation.
