Scope Of Work
WeaverCooke recently completed the complex renovation of the 45,000 square foot, 3-story former F. W. Woolworth store in downtown Greensboro including the historic lunch counter where the first sit-in took place. The renovated building, known as the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, features fourteen signature exhibits in the main exhibition hall, as well as in other areas throughout the building, chronicling the struggle for civil rights in America and throughout the world.
The facility also includes an art exhibit gallery and auditorium where lectures, classes and events such as an annual speaker series can be held. The exterior of the building was restored to resemble the look of the storefront as it was in 1960.
WeaverCooke provided extensive preconstruction services for this project including budgeting, value analysis, and constructability review.
