Scope Of Work
The Community School of the Arts (CSA) is becoming a creative institution for the Marion community. The strong core of local instructors, team with visiting instructors from around the world to offer first class instruction in performing and visual arts, dance, and a variety of specialty classes including writing, martial arts, and yoga.
Halstead Architects has assisted the CSA at various levels. The primary contribution provided design and architectural services in the preservation of their front façade on the courthouse square and the development of a "Wall of Stars" on what was a blank, crumbling façade. The "Wall of Stars" showcases nine of the area's most notable stars including James Dean, Garfield, Samual Plato, and Cole Porter. The contribution each star has made is described in a dedication plaque lower on the wall. In addition to the nationally recognized figures, the "Wall of Stars" incorporates brick/limestone carving allowing everyone in the community to become part of the legacy.
The local contributions also serve as a great fundraising opportunity for the school. Halstead Architects is also working with the CSA in the development of a master plan. This plan provides for future expansion into adjacent, historical structures. It also allows for a growing list of programs and helps the school take the step from a strong grass roots organization to a top notch facility.
