Scope Of Work
a subcontractor to Friedler Construction Company, Broadway performed the electrical, communications, and safety & security divisions of work for this 37,750 sf, two-story annex to this fine & performing arts elementary school on Chicago’s northwest side. The $18 Million project adds 16 classrooms (nine standard academic rooms, five pre-k/kindergarten rooms, a computer lab, and a music classroom). The annex also includes a lunchroom/multi-purpose room, replacing the existing school kitchen. Administrative space and an elevator are also in the scope.
The existing school kitchen was repurposed to two classrooms. The entire building now has a new fire alarm, intercom, and security system with cameras. Utilities to the four modular classrooms onsite was disconnected prior to their removal.
Sustainable features of this annex that impact the electrical system include a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, a reflective roof (further reducing demand on the heating and cooling system), and occupancy light sensors/controls.
