Scope Of Work
Objectives
Improve system-wide performance
Provide flexibility to maintain both a secure facility and a 24-hour operation
Implement network surveillance cameras, intrusion detection system, and an access control system
Deliver the museum’s extensive collection of media history with efficiency and functionality by implementing a digital signage system
Background:
The National Hellenic Museum was the first in the country dedicated to the historical achievements and creations of ancient and modern Greeks. The classical ideals of Hellenism involving humanism, reason, the arts, moderation and civic responsibility were at the core of the design and construction of the 40,000 square-foot building hosting everything from exhibition spaces to meeting areas and a library. RTKL, a renowned architecture, engineering and creative services organization, was commissioned to design the AV, data and security technology in addition to the architectural design of the new facility.
Challenge:
The new facility necessitated leading audio-visual solutions to adequately convey the rich media collections and the extensive archive of oral histories in the collections of the National Hellenic Museum.
The materials selected to incorporate throughout the museum – limestone and glass – created a challenging acoustic environment for employing sound reinforcement systems. Stable system performance relied on calculated placement and adjustment as well as optimization of the audio system digital processors.
Solution:
We worked closely with the technology consultant as well as manufacturers to improve system-wide performance, influencing some of the originally designed components. To deliver the National Hellenic Museum’s extensive collection of media history with efficiency and functionality, we implemented a digital signage system, first seen by visitors upon entering the museum.
The exhibits, collections and artifacts within the museum were protected by the installation of an optimal security system. This was achieved through network surveillance cameras as well as an intrusion detection system that integrates with the access control system, providing flexibility to maintain both a secure facility and a 24-hour operation.
Results:
Pentegra supported the architects and design team to fully realize their vision for the National Hellenic Museum, while recommending adaptations and flexible options where necessary. The project successfully captured the artistic components of Hellenism, enhanced by superior AV systems and structured cabling. State-of-the-art security assured the safety of all the treasures within as well as museum staff and visitors. All the systems provided by Pentegra enjoy maintenance and assistance from the experts at Pentegra, guaranteeing a satisfying, worry-free experience.
