Scope Of Work

In an innovative partnership, Tyler Arboretum and Jeffrey A. Miller Catering worked with CVMNEXT to renovate and restore this historic 19th-century barn. Completed in 1834 to house livestock, this three-story structure is a classic example of a Pennsylvania bank barn and is among the largest remaining of its kind in the Delaware Valley.

This successful integrated design and construction process led by CVMNEXT allows the barn to serve as a centerpiece of the Arboretum’s educational and special events programming while retaining its historic character. This iconic structure begins a new chapter of its life with an open and flexible floor plan, and renovations include upgraded HVAC, restroom facilities and accessibility. The event patio behind the barn was also improved and expanded with the addition of a hand-stacked gabion retaining wall and rain garden. The project team included Archer & Buchanan Architecture, CVM Engineers, Urban Technology and Mark Meyers Architect.
