Scope Of Work

Ayres West Construction Co has been contracted to replace an aged diversion dam that was built, and rebuilt over the last 90 years to divert water from Honey Creek for irrigation.  The contract was originally scheduled for this fall, but permit delays created problems that were overcome by starting a Fish Screen that was outside of the permit limits.  The Fish Screen is located down stream from the diversion and allows the canal to take water while diverting the fish back to the stream.  

Summer 2021 we will begin phase 2, which includes replacing the old diversion structure with a new one that also provides fish passage.  The new structure will include an Obermeyer Gate  that will allow the reservoir to be decreased and increased, and a fishway passage channel that consist of constructing a concrete sluiceway and placing boulders and fine gravels and sand that make the diversion dam passable.  This plus the stream channel enhancement makes this a challenging project that will provide the local ranchers, and ODFW a functional diversion dam for years to come.
