Scope Of Work
This award-winning bridge was ranked #8 of the year by “Roads and Bridges Magazine.”
District 4 of the Florida Department of Transportation looked to us for design/build expertise for the replacement of four low-level bridges over the Worth Oxbow and approaches along U.S. 1 (S.R. 5). Worth Oxbow is designated an Outstanding Florida Water, so the project required innovative construction methods to protect the waterway, particularly the sea grasses and mangroves.
A top-down construction method was employed. Temporary work trestles were constructed at each of the four bridge locations. Cranes on the trestles could demolish the old bridges and erect the new ones from above with no impact to the waterway below.
