Scope Of Work

Originally built in 1972, Opelika High School was more than ready to begin an expansion and renovation of the building. Soon after the Opelika High School class of 2012 graduated, Robins & Morton started construction on 201,000-square-foot project. This project would make Opelika High School one of the most impressive high schools in Alabama with innovative classroom technology, the renovation of Main Street, the addition of two courtyards and a new athletic complex unmatched in the state.

Throughout the two-year transformation, Robins & Morton implemented several innovative programs surrounding personnel management, quality control, and scheduling. Another challenge that accompanied the duration of the project, was the occupancy of the school by more than 1,400 students and 200 additional school employees. Robins & Morton had to have meticulous scheduling of not only the actual construction, but deliveries to the site as well.

Despite these challenges, the team was able to deliver the project on time and under budget. The $39 million project features 87 new classrooms with technology enhancements, seven computer labs, business technology labs, a 6,800-square-foot Bulldog Café, new administrative and guidance offices, Bulldog Stadium, renovation of the women’s athletic facility, construction of a new 22,000-square-foot indoor athletic facility, and other athletic renovations.
