Scope Of Work

Located in Beltsville, Maryland, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) regulates the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of tobacco products. To ensure a healthier life for every family, CTP’s mission is to make tobacco-related death and disease part of America’s past, not its future.

HITT was selected as the general contractor in early 2018. The interior tenant fit-out primarily consisted of office space renovations and features demountable office fronts, wood baffle ceilings, and multi-purpose conference rooms with Skyfold partitions. The elevator lobbies and core restrooms were also renovated.  A pump, not associated with HITT’s work, failed in the penthouse causing a flood in the electrical closets and core restrooms mid-renovation. As a result, the building power was shut off for two weeks and the team relied on temporary power for four months as equipment dried and was tested. Abatement was required and finishes were reinstalled.
