ABOUT US AND MANAGEMENT

Sheldon Gibbs, PE

Sheldon relocated to Jacksonville, Florida from Tallahassee, Florida in 1997 after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida A&M University.  While in school, he developed an affinity for structural design and soon after began his professional career as an entry level structural engineer with one of the top engineering firms in the country.  Passionate about bridges and structural design, the move to Jacksonville was a natural fit given the impact the St. Johns River had on the areas infrastructure.  Sheldon’s quest for knowledge and understanding engineering principles would eventually begin to catch the eye of top executives and afford him opportunities to work on some of the most iconic projects of our time to include:  The Wonderwood Expressway in Jacksonville, Florida, The Big Dig in Boston, Massachusetts and The Urban Train in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.  Sheldon is the President at Gibbs Group, Inc.

With encouragement from close friends, Sheldon co-founded Gibbs Group, Inc. in the Spring of 2007.  Since that time he has been involved with multiple facets of engineering to include: site, civil, stormwater, construction oversight and forensics engineering.  Sheldon has even been deposed as an expert witness in multiple construction related trials in which his opinions have been upheld.  In his free time Sheldon enjoys music and traveling with friends and family.  After many years of preparation, he recently became a first time father to an amazing baby boy.  Grateful for an amazing and rewarding career, Sheldon enjoys overcoming challenges within the industry.
