Project:

Dixie Anchoring System Steel Piers were installed as tie-backs to stabilize two (2) large concrete retaining walls built in 1912, that were experiencing lateral movements. Twenty-five (25) helix steel piers were located at various points along the two (2) concrete walls. Each helix steel pier was a 1 ½" x 1 ½" rounded corner solid square steel shaft with a triple lead section consisting of an 8", 10" & 12" diameter bearing plates. The helix steel piers were advanced to various lengths ranging from seven (7) to twenty- two (22) feet. Threaded adapters were then bolted to the top of the helix steel piers. All of the helix steel piers were load tested to 30 kips. The cored holes were filled with non-shrink grout and then galvanized steel whalers (back to back 12" channels) were attached to the threaded adapters (along the outside of the each wall).
