Scope Of Work

Bernards was chosen to replace the original builder of the Garden Suites and Lakeview Dining Project, a new housing and dining complex situated on the campus of UC Merced. An experienced team was quickly mobilized onto the distressed construction site. By implementing realistic recovery strategies, the Bernards team was able to complete the project on time, enabling the new UC campus to open as scheduled.

Not only was the Bernards team able to relieve the original builder part of the way through their troubled schedule and complete the project on time, but while doing so they were also able to meet one of the highest standards of green building technology, the LEED® Silver benchmark.

he Garden Suites and Dining Facility consists of nine student housing buildings, a common multi-use building, and a centralized dining facility. The 130 apartment-style suites include studios, two and three-bedroom floor plans with common living rooms, efficiency kitchens, and shared bathrooms. The facility features recreational space, common study rooms, and a multi-purpose lounge.
