Scope Of Work
California Filtration Specialists (CFS) was contacted by Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. regarding the Charles Meyer Desalination Project in Santa Barbara. PaveDrain was the specified permeable pavement product for this project. PaveDrain is a Permeable Articulated Concrete Block/Mat (PACB/M) that provides installation ease and flexibility to meet current and future stormwater management regulations. The PaveDrain system provides infiltration, storage, detention, conveyance and a paving surface all in one. When combined, these features allow for a reduction or elimination in stormwater infrastructure costs while
minimizing environmental impact. PaveDrain allows for infiltration rates exceeding 1,500 inches/hour. It is designed for HS-25 loading, so it can be used in parking lots and roadways.
1,425 SF of PaveDrain was installed at three locations at the project site in November of 2016. By utilizing PaveDrain’s infiltration capabilities, we were able to eliminate the storm drain system. Infrastructure costs of storm drain piping were reduced. This self-sustaining system now retains all stormwater on-site and therefore does not increase the capacity of the City of Santa Barbara’s storm drain system.
