Scope Of Work

The Town of Guilford is building a brand new 210,000 s.f. high school to meet current and future needs of their academically gifted student population. Large, modern classrooms with flexible furniture configurations will maximize learning opportunities in a changing and stimulating environment. State of the art lab classrooms will enhance focus on STEM subjects. The large new gymnasium and additional half gymnasium will accommodate the large athletic program as well as community sports programs during non-school hours. The performing arts wing includes a 600 seat auditorium, with large adjacent orchestra, band and chorus rooms. The dramatic building exterior includes large sawtooth light monitors that provide the building with natural light. An exterior screen system also allows seasonally adjustable daylighting. Parts of the building are designed to function as Emergency Shelter space for the Town. LEED and CT High Performance Building Standards were used to develop efficient mechanical and electrical systems. The 47 acre site accommodates new parking areas as well as several new playing fields. The existing High School building will be demolished following occupancy of the new building. The large site area will be specially landscaped to allow for environmental studies of different plant collections and an outdoor classroom.
