Scope Of Work

Redesigning and expanding this house with an addition we used classicist forms to accentuate the Greek Revival style of this house in a historic district. Through the added spaces the connection between indoors and outdoors was enhanced to take advantage of views of the ocean, of the client’s gardens and of the local wild life. The southern orientation of the new spaces captures solar heat in the winter while operable openings eliminate the need for summer air conditioning by allowing sea breezes to cross ventilate the space. This worked particularily well with the added octagonal shape that houses the family dining area.  The addition also includes a family room on the first floor, and a master bedroom suite with decks looking out to the ocean on the second floor. An existing dormer was redesigned to further accentuate the historic style of the house. The project was approved by the Historic Commission.
