Scope Of Work
Work for replacement of 3 existing Air Handling Units in Building 77 included general construction, alterations, mechanical, electrical, utility systems, necessary removal of existing utility systems and installation of new systems and asbestos abatement. Valiant self-performed construction management, demolition, acoustical ceiling, drywall, painting and cleanup.
The AHU units replaced included Air Handling Unit No. 6 – supplies X-Ray Department, 2nd floor, Roof Top Unit No. 8 – supplies Dental 3rd floor west, and Roof Top Unit No. 10 – supplies IRM space 3rd floor. The scope also included the replacement of DDC controls for these units and the replacement of selected VAV terminal units.
Because AHU #6 was unable to be brought up through the building it had to be crane set on the roof. Valiant removed a wall and built a platform on the roof that extended into the building allowing Valiant to roll the unit into the building without damaging the roof or structure. AHU 8 & 10 were crane set onto the 3rd story roof. All 57 VAV boxes were installed in occupied space in Radiology, Dental and IRM. Pneumatic controls were converted to DDC controls on all 3 systems.
