Scope Of Work

The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Berlin is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in New Hampshire.

Bell was the managing partner of the Design-Build contract and the mechanical contractor. Bell’s project management team and quality control policies and procedures were utilized to manage this project, which included all architectural, engineering, construction, project management, quality control and commissioning services.

FCI Berlin consists of 27 structures and required working on multiple structures concurrently. This facility can house approximately 1630 inmates in (3) four-story general housing units and a two-story special housing unit. The complex also includes several single-story buildings for educational/vocational training, health services, administrative services, personal services, maintenance, recreation and food services all connected by a weather corridor within the secure compound. Located outside the secured compound is a central shared facility comprised of a central utility plant, a warehouse, a garage/landscape building, a fueling station and a hazardous materials building. A medium security federal prison camp with housing and support facilities for 128 inmates is located outside the secured compound.
