Scope Of Work

Lifting a Sinking Warehouse Floor in Minneapolis, MN

PROBLEM

An 80,000 square foot industrial warehouse in Minneapolis, MN was experiencing floor settlement throughout the facility. Subsurface voids were found under the floor throughout much of the facility. The lack of support to the floor caused stress cracks and the floor joints were quickly becoming deteriorated when forklifts would run over them. The owner’s of the warehouse needed a quick and cost-effective solution for repair the sinking floor.

Polyurethane foam injections can quickly and effectively lift and level concrete floors. Our non-invasive process puts warehouse managers and owners in control of their facility. Minimal downtime means you can keep operations running and cash-flow moving. Lifting concrete floors with polyurethane foam has a huge cost savings over traditional repair methods that require excavation, weeks to months of downtime and comes with an expensive price tag. Industrial floors can settle for numerous reasons and failing to fix the problem can lead to serious damage to the floor and any mounted equipment or machinery.

OUR SOLUTION

PolyTech USA performed a free, on-site building inspection to determine the extent of the problem. After the scope of work was determined, crews began The PolyTech Process. First, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was used to locate plumbing lines, water lines, post tension cables, electrical conduits, re-bar and voids found in or under the slab. PolyTech regularly scans for utilities on every project to ensure crews are able to safely drill without causing damage to the building. Then, a series of 5/8″ dime-size holes were drilled through the sinking floor and access ports were installed. We began by injecting one of our structural grade polymers to stabilize the loosely compacted soils and fill all subsurface voids. Further injections were made to finish by carefully lifting the floor to original grade. As the expanding polymer is injected, PolyTech technicians carefully monitor the process to ensure an effective and safe lift. For more complex projects, crews use a series of dial indicators capable of monitoring movement as little as .25mm.

END RESULT

Unknown-2

PolyTech USA quickly and effectively lifted the settled warehouse floor back to original grade while allowing for operations to keep up and running. The project took a little over a week to complete and zero excavation was required to complete the floor repair.

• Voids were filled

• Subsurface soils were stabilized

• Floor deflection was corrected

• Floor slabs were stabilized

WHY OUR PROCESS IS UNIQUE

PolyTech USA offers the industry’s leading technology for concrete lifting and leveling projects. Our trained professionals treat your sunken concrete floors with high density, polyurethane foam injections. Lifting concrete with polyurethane foam, also known as polyjacking or foamjacking, is up to 50 percent cheaper than re-pouring concrete.  Our 5/8” (dime-size) drill holes will beat out the competitions large, 1”-2” drill holes. Also, PolyTech USA uses only the best geo-technical polyurethane foams on the market. All of our foams are completely hydrophobic and can be used in the most saturated of soil conditions. Our foams will maintain their compressive strength even as they come in contact with moisture or chemicals. At the time of project completion you will receive a warranty against future settlement to ensure you can hire PolyTech USA with confidence.
