Scope Of Work
The Folsom Dam Auxiliary Spillway project is a cooperative development effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Administration. Upon completion, the project will have constructed an auxiliary spillway to complement the primary Folsom Dam structure and protect against a 200-year flood event. Under previous contracts (Phases II, III, and IV), Extant has conducted the CEQA/NEPA environmental studies, performed compliance monitoring, analyzed construction work plans and heavy equipment fleets and developed the Project Acoustical Monitoring Plan. Throughout these efforts, Extant has created comprehensive computerized simulation models of the four square-mile area surrounding the project. Noise modeling scenarios included the existing noise environment, construction noise levels, project noise levels, and performing efficacy evaluations for numerous noise reduction strategies for evolving project needs.
Extant is currently tasked with on-going noise and vibration compliance monitoring for industrial and construction operations associated with Phase IV operations of the project. The ongoing monitoring efforts include eight measurement locations throughout the project vicinity. Monitoring locations include a combination of automated remote noise and vibration monitoring stations, which report in near real-time and offer email alerting for noise level events, and long-term environmental noise monitoring stations, documenting project noise levels in areas of lesser effect. Supplemental noise and vibration monitoring is conducted to provide detailed assessments of operational changes, fleet modifications, etc. Phase IV operations are anticipated to continue through 2016
