Scope Of Work

The McDonogh 42 Elementary School Renovation project, completed for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District, included select demolition, restorations, and renovations to a three-story, 73,672-square-foot elementary school campus in New Orleans, LA. The facility houses over 500 primary grade students in over 20 classrooms, science laboratories, and art rooms. The project included refurbishment and re-installation of existing doors and windows and the addition of a cafeteria. The project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for optimized energy performance, indoor environmental quality, and sustainability, and it was awarded the ENR Award of Merit for Renovation and Restoration. The elementary school campus was constructed using a monolithic slab-on-grade concrete foundation and steel structural frame with the original building’s concrete. Exterior restorations incorporated the existing brick and a SBS modified bitumen roofing system. Due to CORE’s careful restoration and preservation of original historical and architectural elements, McDonogh 42 Elementary School fully recovered from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
