Scope Of Work

The $53million H-J Apron and Utilities project at Miami International Airport was part of the Miami Dade Aviation Department's South Terminal Expansion Program. The project was divided into 12 phases and included construction of an 80,000-square-yard Portland Cement Concrete apron around the proposed Concourse J, as well as a remote concrete aircraft parking apron and new asphalt pavement for the adjacent taxi lanes throughout the South Terminal program area.

Additional elements of work included non-aircraft-rated asphalt pavement for the new Southeast Guard Gate and related owner vehicle parking areas; new ground support equipment (GSE) parking area; repaving of a segment of perimeter road; temporary pavement for GSE parking and road detours during various phases of construction; and extensive temporary and permanent airfield pavement marking and lighting.

The project included drainage culverts and structures, pollution control systems, water mains, sanitary gravity sewers and force mains, an aircraft fueling hydrant system, electrical and communication duct system, taxiway edge and centerline lighting and high mast floodlighting.
