Scope Of Work
Delivered under our client’s budget, FORMA’s modernization of this occupied 55,000 sf public school campus was carefully sequenced to minimize disruptions to on-going operations and ensure the safety of students, staff, and surrounding community members who continued to use the school’s play equipment and open fields year-round, throughout construction.
FORMA led critical early work–analyzing systems and costs, and charretting with teachers, students, and parents to establish objectives and develop cost option studies to maximize the project within the District’s budget. Our team investigated existing conditions, utilities, and wall systems to capitalize on salvageable materials; and developed an accelerated schedule and revised phasing approach to shave nearly $400K off of cost projections and minimize disruptions to students and staff.
This ambitious modernization emphasizes sustainability via vastly more efficient systems and improved connection to the natural ecology of the site. Due to our GC/CM team’s collaborative efforts during preconstruction, Garfield is WSSP-compliant and is a registered High Performing School Building.
