Scope Of Work

Under emergency response release of reserves, and imminent threat to natural resources, TGE responded to one of the largest modern-day land-based well failures in the U.S. Millions of barrels of S. Louisiana light sweet crude & brine released under blow out conditions, causing severe damage to sensitive cane farmland & swamp. Under intense scrutiny, TGE controlled, managed, and collected much of the crude release and worked with public and agency representatives to transition to sustained recovery while limiting loss of active farmland, surface assets, and affected natural resources, which included federally designated downstream wetlands and migratory fowl. TGE deployed innovative remediation strategies including bio- enhanced land farming with controlled/permitted dewatering, land treatment without objectionable chemistry, controlled irrigation and drainage, and phytoremediation (use of plants) for contaminant removal. TGE minimized impact by controlled waste incineration under a permitted “air curtain” and realized zero solid waste disposal under “green” clean-up objectives. Additional production wells financed continued clean-up and produced intended reserves. The 100 acres of materially affected property was predominantly returned to sugar cane farming under eco- friendly strategies and at a fraction of cost compared to typical “remove and dispose” methods.
