Scope Of Work

This labor intensive, fast-paced project included interior and exterior renovations to nearly 23,000 square feet within the historic Lancaster Central Market. In essence, a system modernization of the entire building was completed, without sacrificing the architectural and historical integrity of the building. The Market, originally constructed 120 years ago of locally produced red brick with a rusticated brownstone base, features a front façade with twin pyramidal towers flanking a major gable. Inside, the roof is carried on 20 wood pillars creating an impressive clear span space. Large timber brackets spring from each column to support giant cross beams, which in turn support the wood framing and steel rod trusses. The project was completed in 13 distinct phases, allowing the market to remain in operation throughout the entire construction process.
