Scope Of Work
Replacing a 57-year old structure, the new $24 million dollar North Shore K-8 School is the fourth consecutive school built for Duval County Public Schools by Ajax Building Corporation in Jacksonville, Florida. The new 145,000 SF school, designed by Song & Associates, includes a new 1 and 2-story building and includes administration areas, classrooms, media center facilities, food services, dining, multi-purpose and gymnasium. This project was completed in 3 phases to allow the school to remain functional on the existing site. Phase 1 consists of the demolition of the existing 3 block portables and media center and was completed July 2006. Phase 2 includes the new 1 and 2 story school which was built around the existing school. Phase 3 consisted of demolishing the existing school and completing the parking lot and sports fields.
North Shore was awarded the Green Building Award for New Construction by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) North Florida Chapter.
