Scope Of Work

This project involves the construction of four soft-ground transit tunnels using slurry shield technology. The joint-venture team will bore four tunnels lined with precast concrete segments under the Sunnyside Yard in Queens. The project scope also includes construction of emergency exit structures, a large open-cut launch structure, three reception pits, building demolition, jet grouting, ground freezing, underpinning of bridges, and utility relocation. The project is a critical element of the East Side Access program, which, when completed, will connect the Long Island Railroad to New York’s Grand Central Station.
