Scope Of Work
SITUATION:
BOND was selected by ConEdison Solutions to provide vault replacements, underground steam and condensate replacements and expansions for the UCONN Storrs campus. ConEdison Solutions chose BOND to perform the work due to the challenging scope, schedule and logistical challenges of the project due to our proven track record for success on similar projects of scope and scale. The project included 2,700 LF of steam and condensate piping, new underground steam vaults, 25,000 SF of concrete sidewalk restoration, 40,000 SF of sod and 6,000 SF of brick paver restoration.
CHALLENGES:
Time-sensitive delivery date based on UCONN’s academic calendar
Construction on active campus
Challenging piping profile and elevation conflicts
SOLUTIONS:
Daily scheduling meetings with subcontractors to track status
Worked with building management to accommodate delivery access on occupied campus
Resource management, phased installation and concurrent work zones were managed in order to maintain schedule
RESULTS:
Completed on schedule before students arrived for the fall semester
Vault replacement was an integral part of an energy savings initiative (ESCO) for UCONN
New steam lines now connect the existing steam lines inside four separate mechanical rooms that service the buildings on the campus
