Scope Of Work

The Challenge
The challenge was to design and implement a Public Safety Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) to cover a newly constructed building on the campus of the University of Portland.  The system was to be fully functional and provide the ability to expand the system to existing buildings in the future as well as offer the ability to add Cellular carriers at a later date.

The Solution
The system was designed using active components that are fiber-fed and capable of future expansion.  The active fiber system provided the ability to meet the university’s current needs and the ability to meet the need of future expansion to additional buildings as well as the addition of multiple cellular carriers with the addition of minimal future assets.  The design provided adequate coverage for the ERRCS with a robust antenna layout capable of meeting all of the cellular carrier’s stringent requirements, based on the potential need for carrier expansion. All of the system components were selected to meet the requirements of the ERRCS and cellular carriers.

WAC’s Role
Wireless Applications Consulting provided expert knowledge and solutions for engineering, management of all cabling installation, installation of all passive & active components, testing, commissioning, and FCC certification.
