Scope Of Work
Several of the French and Indian War’s and Revolutionary war’s important battles and encampments were in Upstate New York, and the state goes to great lengths to maintain the landmarks of this pivotal period in American History. Fort Ticonderoga, strategically perched above Lake George, had structures in desperate need of restoration. The original troop barracks was slated to become the Debra Clarke Mars Education Center after repairs. BHC earned the contract to do the concrete foundations, concrete walls and concrete slab for the education center, a critical building on the historical grounds and tourist destination.
This project had several inherent challenges. The tight quarters of the Fort was not designed for modern construction equipment, so BHC used hand set forms. Coordination and layout were critical to meet the historical guidelines and to retain the original plan of the building. BHC also had to coordinate with the contractors concurrently working on the masonry.
The building will have its Grand Re-Opening in the Summer of 2008.
