Scope Of Work
Contracted through the Department of Interior’s National Park Service, District Contracting was awarded a construction management contract for interior and exterior repairs of the Historic Thomas Stone Mansion House, built in 1771. District Contracting Group along with our skilled historical specialty subcontractors, brought about repairs due to years of neglect.
The exterior renovations included a new hand split wood shake roof, copper gutters and downspouts, copper flashings including custom cricket and saddle flashings, exterior brick and historical wood siding restoration to prevent/correct water infiltration, and window sill and custom finish woodwork replacement due to water damage. The interior renovations included removal of damaged plaster throughout the residence and out buildings.
In order to maintain the historical value and aesthetics, District Contracting applied new horsehair plaster to the more than 300 year old lath wood substrate. Interior renovations also included replacement in-kind of the stair balusters and other finish wood components, new enamel based painting throughout, and restoration of the original flooring members. Extensive submittals and mock-ups were a part of the requirement to carefully match the existing historical features and finishes. Project was completed 8 days ahead of schedule.
