Scope Of Work
Completed: HWP achieved original completion date of August 2019 but contract was extended to October 2019 for NAVFAC-Requested Modification to helical anchors (cost increased from $3.9M to $4.2M). Then, Modification issued on Jul 31, 2020 to augment boulder rock for channel shoreline. New target completion date is Dec 24, 2020 with final cost of $6.307M.
The work consisted of shoreline stabilization along Area 1 of the St. Johns River (approx. 2,100 ft in length) and incidental related work. Details are as follows:
Clearing and grubbing the entire length of the shoreline stabilization along the St. Johns River.
Excavation as required for the permanent sheet piling and Rip Rap installation.
Removal and reinstallation of approximately 900 linear ft of security fence.
Installation of steel sheet pile wall with (57) 58’ and (4) 41’ long helical anchors requiring (4) 14” diameter helix blades per anchor, installed throughout the total length of the permanent sheet piling, approximately 600 ft.
Approximately 600’ of temporary sheet piles were installed to hold back the river during the shoreline stabilization and removed upon completion.
Installation of a stone riprap revetment consisting of geotextile fabric, bedding stone and riprap for a length of approximately 1,550 feet. Riprap consisted of Georgia granite imported by railcar.
Installation of approximately 500 feet of crushed aggregate road including dust control agent.
Backfill and compaction of soil over the newly installed Rip Rap.
Maintain erosion control – silt fence and floating turbidity curtains
Hydroseed and plant 208 trees. Monitor endangered species in work area
