Scope Of Work
Located in Rincon, Georgia, Effingham County is a predominately rural area that is rapidly growing with businesses and new housing. To help increase residential and business access to the county, Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), is building a new, six-mile roadway that will connect State Route 30 to Blue Jay Road, providing a faster route to I-95.
Balfour Beatty’s scope of work includes the development of new, two-lane alignment, six bridges, two Cast-in-Place (CIP) box culverts and 861 concrete piles to support the bridge structures. The project requires 600,000 cubic yards (CY) of borrow from three borrow pits, two of which Balfour Beatty will open and maintain.
To maximize productivity and costs, Balfour Beatty will implement the use of fixed leads on the pile hammer, enabling one crew to produce twice the results.
Construction began in September 2021 and is scheduled for completion in April 2025.
