Scope Of Work

This beautiful Mediterranean styled hotel first opened its doors in 1927.  It will be done in phases as the city raises the money to restore the building to its former glory.  We are repairing cracks to the exterior of the building and replicating the unique finish where additions that had been out on to the building over the years has been removed.  The plasterers that originally worked on the building used as their inspiration "Mullet leaping from the nearby Cootie River".   It is wonderful for us to try and figure out what materials the plasterers used and to try and figure out their hand movements so that our work is undistinguishable from the original workmanship.

The next phase will be the replacement of the windows and doors using the very same company that had manufactured them in 1927;  Hope Windows out of Chicago, we will then go and patch around each of them,  Later we will be brought back in to go over the complete exterior to address any additional issues with the plaster that we find.  The final phase will be to re-plaster the interior of the hotel as it is re-configured into a beautiful hotel and social gathering place once again.

We know how hard the City of New Port Richey is working very hard to raise the funds so that this project is done in accordance to the original quality of the workmanship from that era and we are so very proud that we have been asked to be a part of it all.  The history of this building is incredible as it was a favorite place to stay for the silent film stars of that time such as Gloria Swanson and in later years Frank Sinatra would stay at the hotel.  Another infamous guest was Al Capone and there is said to have been a secret tunnel leading from the hotel to the river where liquor was brought into the hotel during prohibition.  Almost as much fun as getting to work on The Hacienda is learning its history!
