Scope Of Work
At the former Langsdale Library built in the 1960's, Plano-Coudon transformed the 54,000 SF concrete structure into an architectural showpiece and modern learning environment. The scope of work included a completely redone interior space, upgraded MEP systems (with Smoke Evacuation System), state of the art Audio Visual systems for classroom-to-classroom interaction, new angled aluminum panel facade, all new exterior windows, and the construction of a four-story glass atrium with grand entrance and shades controlled by the building's daylighting system. To execute the complex design, Plano-Coudon engaged in extensive design-assist and collaboration with the architect and a steel/stair/curtainwall subcontractor. To stay within the university's budget, Plano-Coudon realized several million dollars in savings through value engineering and careful sourcing. The new Robert L. Bogomolny Library will be a project that University of Baltimore will cherish for years to come and be the center in their continued growth in the area.
