Two mainline bridges of the Sprain Pkwy over Route 119 will be replaced using an accelerated schedule. This work includes MSES(retained earth) lower abutment support and cast in place bridge abutments constructed below the existing bridge structures in a bridge below a bridge construction method to minimize impact to the Sprain Parkway traffic. Existing abutments are being temporarily supported utilizing a soil nail earth retention system. The work includes the removal and replacement of northbound and southbound bridges, new concrete abutments on new MSES wall abutments, new structural steel and new concrete decks. Drainage rehabilitation and re-profiling of the Sprain Parkway will also be included.
