Scope Of Work

Honda Motor Company awarded Aristeo the $2.1 million Line 2 Modifications project for their Honda Manufacturing of Alabama facility. The project required an extension of the existing conveyor line so the facility could accommodate a new product line. As general contractor on this project, Aristeo managed seven different trades, including our own self perform crews that performed demolition, excavation, steel fabrication and installation, and concrete placement services. 

For this project, Aristeo provided demolition services for 32,000 square feet of concrete floor in the facility, excavating 2,000 cubic yards of material and lowering the floor by three feet across two-thirds of the space. Aristeo also poured 1,100 cubic yards of concrete and placed both resteel and steel embeds to support the weight of facility equipment.

Placing concrete in an active facility presented a unique problem – the space would not fit a traditional concrete pump truck and they could not disturb plant production. Aristeo proactively developed a solution and utilized a spider boom to extend the reach of the pump truck. This allowed concrete to be placed precisely where needed with minimal disruption to plant activities. We also utilized a truss screed to provide a more uniform finish for the concrete surface.

This project also required the existing plant electrical and mechanical utilities to be extended for the new lines. Aristeo oversaw subcontractors as they extended electrical systems by 2,000 linear feet and added 1,800 feet of new piping – both of which needed to be extended through the active plant to the new space. Much of this work, as well as the concrete placement work, was completed during night and weekends to minimize disruption to the plant.

The project near completion and has proceeded on budget and with an excellent safety record of zero incidents.
