Scope Of Work
This project is a free standing addition to the current school building. A new covered walkway connects the two facilities. The school strongly emphasizes the performing and fine arts aspects in its curriculum and this new facility was designed to meet these needs. The new building is utilized by grades K-12 and consists of an approximately 11,000 SF single story wood framed structure with two (2) dramatic double height central spaces, one for band/choir rehearsal and one for the arts and crafts area. These spaces are day lit by the cupolas and clerestory windows. The center spaces are flanked by lower scaled spaces containing the circulation corridor, an elementary library, drama & dance studio, and music practice rooms. The arts and crafts area incorporates a reading area mezzanine and also extends onto a large outdoor covered patio space.
The building is designed “barn-like” in appearance for contextual reference within Old Powell Historic District and the exterior utilizes board and batten siding and a standing seam metal roof.
