Scope Of Work
This project consisted of the evaluation of this State Park’s existing beach area showers and lifeguard facility relative to feasibility and cost-effectiveness of reconfiguration and remodeling. The study and current operational / programmatic needs revealed the need for a new facility.
The existing building was raised and a new 1,580 SF building was designed to accommodate men’s and women’s restrooms, changing areas, lifeguard office/storage, drinking fountains, and outdoor showers. The building materials of split and smooth faced CMU, composite shake siding, glass block, sealed concrete floors, and standing seam metal roof were chosen for their durability, aesthetics, and low maintenance aspects.
Additional site amenities include new sidewalks, restriping the parking to include ADA accessible spaces, 11 additional parking spaces, and new bicycle racks. The facility is very energy efficient, utilizing a high degree of daylighting and automatic controls on plumbing fixtures. Artificial lighting is controlled by photo cells and occupancy sensors.
