Scope Of Work

Redeveloping an existing site, especially an urban site, can be rewarding in many ways. But it also presents its own interesting challenges. For Bim’s, one of those challenges was extra demolition- while tearing down the previous store, it was discovered that there was a whole other foundation beneath the store! The soils were also challenging and required rammed aggregate piers to be buildable.

Another facet of Urban Development/ Redevelopment is that the sites are often small and “landlocked” by other structures. At Bim’s, we maximized the site by installing underground stormwater detention. This allowed the detention pond to be under the parking lot, giving the owners use of almost the entire footprint of the site (just 8,000 SF!).  

Retail requires excellent visibility and access in order to thrive and Bim’s Liquors enjoys both. By going vertical with a storage mezzanine, the 3000 SF store boasts almost 2000 SF of shopping floor while having an impressive, highly visible façade. Customers have excellent access by foot or bike thanks to the store’s oversize front sidewalk and bike rack and vehicles have ready access via the wide driveway off of W. Marietta Street.
