Scope Of Work
Pape-Dawson provided the civil design for the Performing Arts Center— a versatile, world-class performing arts facility for San Antonio and the surrounding area. The state-of-the-art, multi-purpose 1,738-seat performance hall, funded through the Bexar County Venue Tax program, is located in the renovated San Antonio Municipal Auditorium. Services included site development plans, surveying, flood study, platting, permitting, grading and drainage design, stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), stormwater management plan (SWMP), traffic and parking study for event operations, utility coordination and design, and bid and construction phase services. Pape-Dawson conducted a boundary, topographic, and improvement survey of the 3.36-acre Municipal Auditorium building and 0.46-acre Fire Department Headquarters building in downtown San Antonio. The survey included boundary lines, trees, spot elevations, 1’ contours, and visible improvements. Services also included contacting Texas One Call to locate existing underground utilities and researching utility company records. Deliverables included survey drawings signed and sealed by a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) and electronic drawing files in AutoCAD format.
To begin the project, Bexar County voters approved $100 million in construction bonds in May 2008. The City of San Antonio followed by contributing the Municipal Auditorium and adjacent Fire Department Headquarters building, valued altogether at $41 million.
The project was completed in 2014 and received Silver-level LEED certification.
