Scope Of Work
Located on the campus of St. Teresa’s Academy, the 10,400 SF building features a 100-seat chapel and a multipurpose classroom facility. The sisters were lace makers who earned income by making and selling lace. With that tradition in mind, the exterior facade of the chapel was designed to replicate the look and feel of lace. Computerized laser cutting machines cut sheets of aluminum which were used to create the lace exterior facade. The classroom portion of the building was designed to complement the existing campus architecture and intersecting operable wall partitions provide four additional classrooms, conference, and administrative space. Another unique feature to this project is a geo-thermal well system, which will keep operations costs to a minimum for years to come.
Due to the unique nature of the aluminum lace, JE Dunn worked closely with the design team and specialty subcontractors in a collaborative approach for budget and constructability during preconstruction. This is a focal point of the building and a large piece of the overall budget, so the project team worked diligently to bring the project into budget and deliver everything in St. Teresa’s program.
