Scope Of Work
The Shady Grove Educational Facility II provides additional facilities to expand the capabilities and services offered by the Shady Grove Life Science Center in Montgomery County, Maryland. The 64,500 SF building consists of two major wings. A one-story wing houses a 9,000 SF multi-purpose room. Designed by Walton, Madden, Cooper, Robinson, Poness, Inc. to facilitate special events, this space has the capability dividing into five acoustically separated rooms of varying capacities. A four-story wing contains the administrative suite, faculty offices, two laboratories, and seventeen classrooms which feature state-of-the-art telecommunications. The labs are fully equipped to provide flexibility in offering curriculum in Bio Tech related fields. The lab spaces were developed in close coordination with the College of Life Sciences and the Department of Microbiology. The research laboratory area, located on the top floor, operates independently from all other systems. Both wings are linked with an entry lobby and a four-story atrium.
